About me
Paige Lovins is a Fine Arts student at the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP) studying to get her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She works with multiple different mediums including printing making, painting, drawing and photography. Her concepts explore mental health, relationships, nature and dreams. Her work also has aspects of collage, found objects, and images. She is always growing and expanding her skills as an artist and as a person, and aspires for people to be able to relate and connect with her work.
Artist Statement
My art practice explores the themes of change and growth within relationships and human interaction through printmaking, painting, photography and drawing. I focus on personal experiences of my childhood traumas and how they have healed and grown into new beginnings for myself but also the people around me. I take memories and moments, past and present, to analyze how they have affected me and the people surrounding me and use symbolism, objects and images to represent that specific moment and the emotions it brought forth. I find that the process of each medium allows me to highlight and talk about a specific memory and emotion differently and more in depth depending on which medium would work best for that concept. Also experimenting with college has broadened my ideas and ways of visualizing it. My whole practice is very cathartic and helps me mentally heal from the hardships of my past, but I want my viewers to connect to my work in their own ways and know that they aren’t alone in the complications of their own mind, relationships and life.
